This page explains how to contact the developer of Teleprompter: Video & Captions and how to fix problems with voice scroll, captions, mirroring, saving and subscriptions. The answers describe version 2.1, the version on the App Store on 27 October 2026.

Contact

Support for Teleprompter: Video & Captions goes through the contact form at nwlamll.github.io/apps/contact, the same form the App Store listing links to. The form asks for your email address, a subject and your message. The form serves more than one app, so put "Teleprompter: Video & Captions" in the subject.

Use the same form to report a mistake on this website. Quote the sentence and the page it is on.

Payments, renewals and refunds go through Apple. The developer cannot see your payment details, cancel a subscription for you or issue a refund; the answers below say where to do each of those.

What to include in a bug report

A bug report about Teleprompter: Video & Captions is easiest to act on when it includes:

  • Your iPhone or iPad model and its iOS or iPadOS version. Settings › General › About shows both.
  • The screen you were on and what you did, step by step.
  • What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
  • Any message the app showed, word for word.
  • For voice scroll or captions, the language you chose, and whether the caption language list marked it “Runs on this iPhone, no connection needed” or “Needs a connection for this language”.

Troubleshooting

Each answer below gives the cause in version 2.1 of Teleprompter: Video & Captions and what to do about it.

Questions people ask

Voice scroll is on, but the script does not move. What should I check?

Check these in order:

  • On the prompter screen, Scroll is set to Voice. On the recording screen, Voice recognition is switched on in the settings panel.
  • The language next to Language is the language you are reading in.
  • If a banner is showing, it names the reason: the microphone was refused, the microphone is busy with a call or another app, speech recognition was refused, or the language cannot run right now. Turn on Microphone and Speech Recognition for Teleprompter in the Settings app, or tap “Use auto scroll”.
  • If you skipped far ahead or went off script, voice scroll stays where it was. Drag the script to the line you are on.

The voice scroll page explains how the matching works.

Voice scroll is listening in the wrong language. How do I change it?

On the prompter screen, tap Scroll, choose Voice and change the language next to Language. On the recording screen, open the settings panel and change Language there. Voice mode follows speech in nine languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Indonesian; Spanish uses Apple’s speech recognition for Spain (es-ES) and Portuguese uses Apple’s for Portugal (pt-PT).

The caption language is chosen separately each time you make captions.

Captions were not created for my take. Why?

Check these:

  • Speech recognition must be allowed for Teleprompter in the Settings app.
  • The language you chose must match the language spoken in the take. If it does not, redo the captions in the right language.
  • A language marked “Needs a connection for this language” needs the internet. If the recogniser stops answering, the app gives up after 25 seconds of silence and says “The recogniser stopped responding.” Check your connection, or pick a language that runs on the device.
  • Captions work only on takes recorded in the app. A video from Photos cannot be brought in.

The captions page covers how captions are made.

The script is not mirrored on the recording screen. Is something wrong?

No. The mirror for a teleprompter rig applies to the full-screen prompter only, never to the recording screen. In a rig, the phone shows the mirrored script and a separate camera records you. The mirror mode page explains the settings.

I subscribed, but my projects are still locked. How do I restore my subscription?

Open the subscription screen from the crown button on Home and tap Restore. A subscription belongs to the Apple Account that bought it, so the iPhone or iPad must be signed in to that account. A purchase made inside the app unlocks your projects without restarting the app.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose the subscription and cancel it. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and deleting the app does not cancel one. The terms of use say when a renewal is charged.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in with the Apple Account that made the purchase and request a refund for the subscription there. The developer cannot issue refunds, because the payment goes to Apple.

Why did nothing happen when I saved a take to Photos?

Teleprompter: Video & Captions needs permission to add to your Photos library. If that permission was refused, saving does nothing and no message is shown. Turn on Photos access for Teleprompter in the Settings app and save again; adding photos only is enough.

Why was my take not kept after I pressed Stop?

A take shorter than 5 seconds is not kept, and the app says “Record at least 5 seconds to keep a take.” Record for longer.

Why does the Record button do nothing?

Recording needs microphone permission, and the Record button does nothing until it is allowed. Turn on Microphone for Teleprompter in the Settings app.

Why did a PDF I imported open as an empty script?

A scanned PDF has no text layer, and the app does not read text from images, so it imports as an empty script. Import a PDF with real text or a plain-text file, or type or paste the script into the editor. Word, Pages and RTF files cannot be imported.
