Who makes it

What it does
Teleprompter: Video & Captions keeps each script and the takes you record from it together as a project, on your device. With a project open, the app can:
- Show the script in a window over the front camera while it records you, in portrait or landscape (recording with the script on screen).
- Scroll the script at a fixed speed you set, or follow your voice as you read (how voice scroll follows you).
- Turn the speech in a take into timed captions, spelled the way your script spells them (how captions are made).
- Trim a take, crop it, blur or replace the background, and flip it, then save it to Photos (editing a take).
- Reverse the script for a beam-splitter rig (mirror settings for rigs).
- Import a script from a PDF or a plain-text file.
What it does not do
Teleprompter: Video & Captions has these limits in version 2.1.
It records with the front camera only, adds captions only to videos recorded in the app, and saves finished videos to Photos; it does not post to social networks or export subtitle files.
Version 2.1 also does not do the following. When a later version adds one of them, this list changes and the page shows a new date.
- Sync scripts between devices, or use an account.
- Work with Bluetooth remotes, keyboards or foot pedals.
- Import Word, Pages or RTF files, or read the text of a scanned PDF.
- Remove a physical green screen.
- Translate a script or captions.
- Count down before recording starts.
- Let you choose the prompter’s typeface.
- Record from several cameras at once, or let you set a resolution.
- Write or improve a script for you.
How this site is written
This is the app’s own website, so it describes its own product. These are the rules it follows:
- Every statement about the app was checked against the code of the version on the App Store (2.1) and against the App Store listing, and is recorded with its source. A feature that is not in that version is not described here.
- Every feature page has a section called “Where this stops working well”.
- The site shows no ratings, review counts, download numbers, testimonials or awards.
- Statements about other apps come from their App Store listings or official help pages, with the date they were read. The comparison of iPhone teleprompter apps sets out criteria and does not rank.
- A wrong statement is corrected on its page rather than removed quietly, and the page’s “Updated” date changes.

Questions people ask
Why does the app have a different name in Brazil, Mexico and Spain?
Store names are set for each App Store country. In Brazil the app is listed as Teleprompter: Vídeo e Legenda, and in Mexico and Spain as Teleprompter IA: Graba Video. They are the same app, with the same App Store ID, 6746498190. The “IA” in the Mexican and Spanish name is Spanish for AI; version 2.1 has no working feature that writes or rewrites scripts.
Does Teleprompter: Video & Captions need an account?
No. There is no account and no cloud sync. Your projects, scripts and takes are kept in the app’s own storage on your device, and they are included in your device backups like any other app’s files.
Does Teleprompter: Video & Captions run on a Mac or Apple Vision Pro?
Apple’s product page lists Mac (with Apple M1 or later and macOS 14) and Apple Vision as compatible. That is Apple running the iPad app; the app was not built or tested for either, so this site describes it as an iPhone and iPad app.
Where can I report a mistake on this site?
Use the contact form linked from the support page and quote the sentence and the page it is on. A confirmed mistake is corrected on the page, and the page’s “Updated” date changes.
